How to intervene on a casualty in calm water and get them out of the water - In this lesson, you will learn effective techniques for towing a victim in calm water. We focus on safely assisting an exhausted person by positioning yourself behind them, grabbing under the armpits to keep their head above water. The rescuer performs regular, controlled movements to bring the victim to the shore. For unconscious or agitated victims, the rescuer must avoid being grabbed by the victim and pulled underwater. The proper technique involves securing the victim from behind, with the arm under their armpit and the other hand grasping their opposite wrist or elbow, while reassuring them throughout the process. This lesson ensures both safety and efficiency in water rescues.
